Some e any são palavras úteis para falar de quantidades em inglês. No entanto, há regras específicas para o seu uso. Vamos começar com any:
Any deve ser usado em perguntas e frases negativas:
Is there any milk in the fridge?
Do you have any money?
Are you going to have any juice?
There isn´t any milk in the fridge.
Sorry, I don´t have any money.
I´m not going to have any juice.
Some, no entanto, é usado em frases afirmativas:
There´s some cake in the kitchen.
She needs some time to rest.
I have some money in my pocket.
Há uma exceção a estas regras. Quando há pergunta é composta por Can, Could ou Would, usa-se some. Veja os exemplos abaixo:
Can I have some more wine?
Could you give some coffee?
Would like some tea?
